Y’all know I love creating, but one of my favorite things about The Butta Bar is walking into our apothecary wall like a kid in a candy store. Herbs, oils, butters, salts, sugars, shimmers—it’s all right there waiting on me to grab, mix, and bring a new idea to life.

The other day I had a slow morning, so I decided to whip up a product straight from our apothecary shelves. I wanted something simple but still a little luxury, something I could use after my shower that would leave my skin soft, glowing, and smelling like me.

Step 1: Choosing the Base

I started with mango butter and shea butter—two of my all-time favorites. Shea gives that deep moisture my skin craves, and mango adds a light, creamy texture that melts right in without feeling greasy. Already, my space smelled like a spa.

Step 2: Adding the Oils

Next up, I grabbed some jojoba oil and a splash of sweet almond oil from the apothecary shelf. These are my go-to oils because they balance each other perfectly—jojoba feels closest to our skin’s natural oils, and almond oil is just buttery smooth. Together, they make the mix rich without being heavy.

Step 3: A Little Extra Love

Because I wanted this batch to have a little “glow factor,” I stirred in a touch of gold shimmer powder from our additives section. Just a little, nothing too wild, but enough that when the sun hits, my skin gives off that effortless “I drink enough water and mind my business” glow.

Step 4: Fragrance Time 🌸

This is always my favorite part. I went over to the fragrance wall and blended a little Pink Sugar with Cashmere Glow. Sweet, cozy, and grown woman all in one. Honestly, I wanted to keep sniffing the jar before I even finished mixing.

Step 5: Whip It Good

With everything melted and combined, I whipped it until it turned into the fluffiest butter—light, airy, and ready to scoop. It spread like velvet across my arm, and just like that, I had my own personal creation straight from The Butta Bar apothecary.

Pink Sugar & Cashmere Glow Shimmer Body Butter Recipe

Makes: ~8 oz jar
Skill Level: Beginner-friendly

Ingredients (from The Butta Bar Apothecary)

  • 1/2 cup Shea Butter (deep moisture, rich and creamy)

  • 1/2 cup Mango Butter (light, non-greasy texture)

  • 2 tbsp Jojoba Oil (balances and nourishes skin)

  • 1 tbsp Sweet Almond Oil (smooth, silky finish)

  • 1/2 tsp Gold Shimmer Powder (optional, for glow ✨)

  • 15 drops Pink Sugar Fragrance Oil

  • 10 drops Cashmere Glow Fragrance Oil

Directions

  1. Melt the Butters

    • Add the shea and mango butters into a heat-safe bowl.

    • Place over a double boiler on low heat until completely melted.

  2. Add the Oils

    • Remove from heat. Stir in jojoba and sweet almond oils until well combined.

  3. Chill the Mixture

    • Place the bowl in the fridge for 20–30 minutes. You want the edges firm but the center still soft.

  4. Whip It Up

    • Using a hand mixer (or stand mixer), whip the mixture on high for 5 minutes until fluffy.

    • Add shimmer powder and fragrance oils. Whip again for 2–3 minutes.

  5. Scoop & Store

    • Transfer to an airtight jar. Store in a cool, dry place.

How to Use

  • Apply a small scoop to damp skin after showering.

  • Massage in until your skin feels like velvet.

  • Glow confidently all day long.
